For nearly 50 years, the McKee name has been identified with expertise in luxury real estate and exceptional service in the Cashiers and Highlands, NC area. The McKee Group Brokers, backed by Cashiers Sotheby's International Realty, represent the best of what the Cashiers-Highlands area has to offer.
Prior, Sandy joined McKee Properties in 2012. Her focus is on listing and selling homes, condominiums and land in both Cashiers and Highlands.
Clients — particularly first-time buyers — praise her unwavering attention to their needs. She is also known for her skill in bringing closure to sales in a smooth and seamless manner. Her sales history includes transactions at Highlands Country Club, Highlands Mountain Club, Village Walk in Highlands, and Wade Hampton Golf Club, Chattooga Club, Big Sheepcliff and Spring Forest in Cashiers.
Sandy has a passion for helping others, and selling real estate fuels that passion by matching the needs of her clients with the properties for which they’re looking and for selling those properties for others. This spirit is evident in her commitment to community involvement. Currently, she serves as an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church. She previously served on the Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust Board of Directors, the Board of Directors of the Highlands’ Performing Arts Center (PAC), the Community Care Clinic of Highlands-Cashiers and the Village Green of Cashiers, for which she chaired the 2009 Joy Garden Tour and the 2012 Plein Air Festival.
Her “sport” is duplicate bridge, and she currently holds the rank of Gold Life Master and previously served as president of the Highlands Duplicate Bridge Club. Originally from Macon, Georgia, Sandy earned an undergraduate degree from Agnes Scott College and a master’s degree from Mercer University. Prior to their move to Cashiers in 2002, Sandy and her husband, John, lived in Highlands for 10 years.
Before relocating to the mountains, Sandy served as a school teacher, director of development for the Children’s Hospital and executive director for The Hay House historic landmark and museum — all in Macon.

My favorite thing about the Cashiers area is the Village Green. When my grandchildren were younger and visiting us, a highlight was always to go to the playground at the Green. I learned at that time that volunteers not only paid for it, they built it! That whole effort was amazing. In addition, as a resident I feel great pride that we have more than 12 acres right in the middle of our little village preserved for visitors and residents to enjoy as a park.
Although I can’t think of just one moment in my real estate career that I’m most proud, I can say unequivocally how proud I am to be with The McKee Group (formerly McKee Properties)! I love the long history and the impact that William McKee, founder of the company, made in this community. Each person here is committed to their job of helping clients with their real estate needs.
One of my favorite Cashiers-area memories is taking my three grandsons, as little fellows, to the playground at the Village Walk. The playground was designed under the guidance of a professional company who involved the community, including its children, in the design and the actual building of the playground. As a family we built wonderful memories there for many years. (By the way, those 3 grandchildren are now 20, 23, and 25-years old!)
Service has always been a big part of my life, first to my family, then my community, the work place, and to my wonderful church, Highlands First Presbyterian Church, where I serve as an Elder and a member of the Flower Guild. Another passion for me is my “sport,” which is duplicate bridge. I am a Gold Life Master, thanks to some wonderful partners and great opportunities to play in tournaments throughout the southeast. Historic preservation has also been an integral part of my life, first as director of a house for a museum in Macon, GA, and then through service on the board of Cashiers-Highlands Historic Preservation.
Our office is one of the oldest buildings in Cashiers, celebrating 150 years. It's a designated Cashiers Historical Society Heritage Property, as well as the recipient of the 2022 Village Heritage Award.
Using an array of tools across today’s digital and print marketing channels, combined with the expertise provided by The Sotheby's International Realty® Network, we will work to find the right property for your purchase, or to sell your premier property quickly.

“It is a privilege to write about our experiences of selling our beautiful home in Cashiers with McKee Properties as our Broker.
We met with our children to see if they could come one or more times a year and help us assess what items needed maintenance and even join us in getting the projects completed. We had been unable to obtain dependable help to assume these roles in our absence. This discussion led to a recommendation to sell the property.
Husband Al made the initial call to John Barrow. A follow-up meeting was held with John and Sandy and the team began its task. Communications were an A+. The written communications were written with the English teacher in mind and the photography and use of color and texture of paper made it a coffee table edition.
Now it was the magical team of Sandy and John — SOLD!! There were general drop-ins. One was a drop-in for all the female brokers for a sit-down formal dinner which Sandy cooked and McKee Properties provided the French wine.
We live three hours from Cashiers. We typically come every other week to clean, cut grass and water plants. Since both of us are experiencing health issues, we notified them when we were not being able to come to Cashiers. They watered all the plants for us.
I could continue with so many other things they did for us to make this such a memorable experience. When they walk through the door, they are greeted with “Come in Friends.”
Congratulations on having such Special people on your team. With grateful hearts”
